Taking a Stand Against Hate

In recent months, there has been a deeply troubling surge in hate crimes and hateful rhetoric, both online and in our communities. At Access Social Care (ASC), we've felt the impact of this firsthand. Our staff members have shared that they don't always feel safe in their own neighbourhoods, and we've even had instances where racist language was used by a client on a call and in the comments on our social media channels.

At ASC, we unequivocally condemn all forms of discrimination and hateful rhetoric. Everyone has the right to feel safe and supported, no matter where they are. This commitment isn't just a statement; it's a core principle that guides our actions. We are actively exploring ways to build resilience and prepare our organisation to better address the rise of hate speech.

From our work around EDI, we know we all have a role to play to speak out when incidents happen. We know that this can sometimes be hard in practice, so please also feel that you can ask for help around what to do next if you do witness discrimination/hate speech or a related incident.

Taking a stand against hate requires collective action. We encourage everyone to look out for one another with respect and inclusion.
