Shaping the future of social care data

Hosted by: Access Social Care
Date: 24th October, 9:00-17:00
Format: In-person
Location: The Pears Hub, Haskell House, 152 West End Lane, London NW6 1SD.
Time: 9:30am-4:30pm

Purpose

Across England, social care data is fragmented, difficult to access, and often presented in ways that are hard to interpret. This makes it challenging for citizens, communities, and professionals to understand the state of care in their area and to make informed decisions.

Access Social Care developed the Data Portal to address these issues. By consolidating open data sources into one place and presenting them in clear and accessible ways, the portal helps uncover insights that can drive transparency, inform advocacy, and support better outcomes. The portal is already helping organisations and communities to better understand challenges and opportunities in their local areas.

We are now entering the next phase of development, aiming to make the portal more useful, accessible, and impactful for a wide range of users. This will include a stronger focus on design and user experience to ensure the platform is intuitive, engaging, and easy to navigate.

This workshop will bring together data and care leads in local authorities, service providers, voluntary and community organisations, and citizens with lived experience to explore:

  • The challenges you face in accessing and using social care data

  • The types of data that are most valuable to your work, advocacy, or lived experience

  • How design, functionality, and user experience can make the Data Portal more effective for your needs

  • How you would like to engage with the Data Portal in future

Your input will directly shape the next prototype of the Data Portal, which we will share back with you in a follow-up session for feedback and refinement.
